GENERAL INFORMATION In September 2008 I joined the Economics Department at the University of Augsburg to assume a position as professor of health economics (with tenure). There are close ties to the
Economics Department of the
University of Waterloo where I worked as an assistant professor before I returned to Germany. As co-investigator I am also affiliated with
McMaster University and its
Economics Department where I work on the project "Financing and funding health care: Exploring equity and efficiency using experimental economic methods" (principal investigator: Jerry Hurley) funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Most of my research is on incentives, competition and regulation in health care systems using theoretical as well as empirical methods. My research interests include Health Economics, Public Economics, Political Economy, Industrial Organization, and applied Microeconometrics.
