How to reach the university

The University of Augsburg is very well connected with the national and regional infrastructure and can be easily reached by car, train and plane.

Unfortunately, as the central tram station will be under major reconstruction in 2012, public transportation by tram and bus is a little bit restricted during the workshop. A new tram line (tram no. 13) starting at "Moritzplatz" (Moritz Square) in direction "Haunstetten West" will get you to the university (stop: "Universität") in approximately 20 minutes. Moritzplatz is a square in the heart of Augsburg city that is in walking distance (10 min.) from the main station. Special directions on how to reach the university from recommended accomodation can be found on the "accomodation" page. Regular tram services run every 8 minutes from 08:00h to 18:00h. In the evening the trams run every 15 minutes. Services stop at midnight.

By car

Augsburg is located directly at the autobahn A8 connecting Munich and Stuttgart.

On the autobahn A8 Munich-Stuttgart take the exit Augsburg-West. Drive along federal highway B17 in direction of Landsberg. It takes approx. 10 minutes to the exit "Messe/Universität". After exiting the federal highway take a right turn at the next crossroads into Universitätsstraße. Most convenient parking is provided at the spillover parking lot of the exhibition center. A 3 minute walk will get you to the conference venue. Click here to see the route on Google Maps.

By train

National train services to and from all major German cities (including the nearest international airports in Munich, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart) stop in Augsburg hourly (or every other hour).

After arriving at Augsburg main station the bus line "B1" in direction "Moritzplatz" takes you to Moritzplatz (approx. 5 min.). Here change to tram line 13 in direction "Haunstetten West" to the university (stop: "Universität).

Alternatively you may walk from the Main Station to Moritzplatz (about 10 min.). When leaving the Main station through the central exit go straight ahead (direction is east) via Bahnhofstraße and Bürgermeister-Fischer-Straße. Click here to see the route on Google Maps.

Train connections can be checked and booked via the website of Deutsche Bahn.
