An article by Alexander Frey, Manuel Trenz, and Daniel Veit entitled "Competitive Lessons from the Sharing Economy—Three Differentiation Strategies" will be published in MIS Quarterly Executive.

About the study: Executives of organizations entering the sharing economy face the challenge of selecting the right differentiation strategy for their company. This article reveals three differentiation strategies for the sharing economy, namely differentiation through technology, differentiation through partnerships, and differentiation through user experience. We identify nine questions on the competitive environment and the characteristics of the shared resource that managers can use to guide the selection of their differentiation strategy when entering the sharing economy.
