The Role of Global or Regional Institutions in Capital Markets

The emphasis in this section is the role global or regional institutions play in developing and changing capital markets.

  • Papers exploring how regional and global institutions interact with dominant and weak state actors in terraforming the accounting landscape.
  • Papers exploring how multinational and national institutions interact and come to accommodations.
  • Papers looking at the interactions of multinational institutions and management control within countries.

A simple example would be how institutions such as the IMF or ECB provide help in developing reporting requirements or corporate governance models and practices in countries without a long tradition of being global players.
